Ending with New Beginnings: London to Wales

On June 8th, we began our adventure early in the morning at the famous Borough Market. This market is known by several people for its amazing and exotic food; even Andrew Zimmer made an appearance at the market. We tried salty beef sandwiches, wild boar sausage, venison burger, curry and chicken sauce over rice, Turkish delights, macaroons, and many other tasty treats.

After the market, we split up into groups with some going to see the musical "Les Miserables," while others took in the beautiful sites while pub hopping. One particular pub, The Anchor, was where Shakespeare himself lived upstairs and served top notch fish and chips as well as pulled pork nachos. Many of the pubs and restaurants help the environment and stay sustainable by not having napkin dispensers and only giving as many napkins as there are people at the table.

Unfortunately, later in the day, several people got caught in London’s famous rain. Many made the best of the situation by running through the torrential rains and jumping through the massive puddles. We ended our evening by meeting up as one group again at the bar in the hostel to celebrate our final night in London.

On June 9th, everyone packed their suitcases and ate breakfast. That morning, most people upgraded to the full English breakfast. Once ready for the day, everyone got on a coach and began the long drive to Wales.

Five hours later, we stopped in a small town in Wales called Conwy and went as a big group to look at the Conwy Castle. This was a castle built between 1283 and 1289. Later, we made it to our hotel, known as The Grand Hotel, which was right alongside of the Irish Sea in Llandudno.

After dropping our luggage off at the hotel, we all went to the local grocery store to stalk up on food for later. From there, our group split up to eat. Some of us went to the Palladium Theater to eat, while others went to the La Taverna or to get Indian cuisine. After eating different types of foods, people went out to get ice cream, tour the town, or run along the beach. Finally, we decided to go to bed early after the long and exhausting day.
